Stephen Hornbuckle

Stephen Hornbuckle has 30 years of experience litigating complex personal injury and commercial cases in Washington and Tennessee. He combines a deep understanding of medical and legal issues with a strong ability to grasp and explain complex facts. He has successfully handled both trial and appellate matters and works to understand and appreciate his clients’ point of view and how their lives have been affected by the damage caused them.

Stephen attended Washington & Lee University, graduating magna cum laude, with a BA in German and Philosophy. After graduating from college, Stephen received a grant to study as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Essen in Germany. He attended the University of Texas School of Law, graduating with honors in 1995. He was an articles editor for the Texas Law Review and published “Capital Sentencing Procedure: A Lethal Oddity in the Supreme Court’s Case Law.”

Stephen has a wide range of litigation experience in personal injury law, wrongful death, nursing home abuse lawsuits, and malpractice litigation. He has successfully handled cases for the plaintiff in banking litigation, insurance bad faith, breach of fiduciary duty, as well as pharmaceutical litigation involving harmful drugs. He has also successfully handled complicated appellate matters.

Stephen and Tom have obtained size-able and significant jury verdicts and settlements in nursing home litigation. We believe we have had a major impact upon the nursing home industry that has caused that industry to realize that they can no longer inflict abuse and neglect upon the elderly and infirm without severe consequences from a jury.
