Melissa Miu

Melissa Miu graduated Magna Cum Laude (top 3%) from the University of Washington in 2022 with a Bachelor’s degree in Law, Economics & Public Policy. During her time at UW, she served as Training and Resource Coordinator for Club Council, Civic Engagement Intern for the Social Justice Organizers, and Vice President of the UWB Transfer Honor Society; experiences that strengthened her leadership, public speaking, and community engagement skills.

At The Hornbuckle Firm, Melissa works as a Litigation Paralegal, supporting the firm’s complex personal injury, medical malpractice, and wrongful death cases. Her responsibilities include drafting pleadings and discovery, managing medical records and evidence, preparing deposition and trial materials, and coordinating with clients, experts, and opposing counsel. Melissa particularly enjoys the analytical side of litigation; connecting medical facts to legal strategy, optimizing case organization, and helping clients feel supported during challenging times.

Before joining The Hornbuckle Firm, Melissa gained hands-on courtroom and litigation experience as a Judicial Specialist at the Federal Way Municipal Court and as a Litigation Paralegal at The Ye Law Firm, where she supported injury cases from filing through trial. Each role deepened her understanding of litigation and strengthened her dedication to advocacy and justice.

Melissa’s long-term goal is to attend law school and eventually serve as a judge, building upon her courtroom experience and mentorship from legal professionals throughout her career.
