Airbag Defect behind Nissan Recall of Over One Million Vehicles

By March 26, 2014January 12th, 2016Car Accidents, Product Liability, Uncategorized

In the latest vehicle recall, in a year full of vehicle recalls, Nissan has announced the company is recalling over a million vehicles mostly in the US as a result of a defective airbag. The software in the vehicles may cause the front passenger airbag to deactivate, classifying the seat as empty.

The affected Nissan vehicles include:

  • 2013 Nissan NV 200 cargo van
  • 2013 Infiniti JX35 crossover vehicle
  • 2013-2014 Altima sedan, Sentra small car, and Pathfinder SUV
  • 2013-2014 Leaf electric car
  • 2014 Infiniti Q50 sedan and QX60 crossover

The worry with this software problem is that, in case of an auto accident, the airbag won’t deploy like it’s supposed to, which can seriously injure or kill the person in the passenger seat.

Filing a Personal Injury Claim

When a car accident occurs, and the injuries are a result of a defective part on the vehicle, you may be able to file a claim with a personal injury attorney. It’s important that you speak with an attorney as soon as you can to get the compensation you deserve. Speaking only with your insurance company may reduce the amount you are due.
